Empathywork.com is the website of James R. Iberg M.B.A. Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist, who practices psychotherapy in Chicago and Evanston, IL.

Jim has worked as a Focusing-oriented therapist since 1973. He is a Certifying Coordinator for the Focusing Insitute. His graduate work was at the University of Chicago. He has worked closely with Eugene Gendlin on research and theory. Jim has taught focusing and empathic listening to people in the U.S., Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, and Germany. He is associate core faculty at the Illinois School for Professional Psychology of Argosy University.

When human interaction includes large doses of empathy, many desirable results occur: insight, stress and anxiety relief, feeling understood and valued, improvement in mood, equanimity, reduced impatience, increased capacity to be generous and understanding of others, renewed energy, and more. Providing empathy for clients and helping them become more empathetic to themselves is the foundation of psychotherapeutic methods and the trainings that Jim offers.
